The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (NYEE), located at 310 East 14th Street, New York, NY provides ophthalmology and otolaryngology clinical services, and is a research and teaching center for ophthalmology and otolaryngology. The challenge was controlling and keeping track of Patient Accounts consisting of EOB’s, Referrals and Ledgers. NYEE’s existing procedures involved creating large amounts of paper documents. Tracking these documents was very time consuming. It was difficult for different departments within the hospital to locate the documents that were being generated.

On a daily basis, the Imitrieve Enterprise Capture System captured and converted the documents into digital form. Within twenty-four hours the digital documents containing vital medical information were posted on Imitrieve’s Digital Warehouse, a web based storage and retrieval ASP platform service. This solution satisfied the requirement for any department within the hospital to have rapid, secure, and easy access to their vital medical information.

Retrieving documents was time consuming and expensive because of space and related logistical constraints. Consumers FCU required fast retrieval of the documents without searching through tiers of boxes.

The Imitrieve Enterprise Capture Service was utilized to convert the Closed and Open accounts documents to digital form. These digital documents were then posted to Consumers FCU’s internal corporate office for fast and accurate retrieval.
